Hello Sonic,

As you are probably aware there are many brands of knee replacements within a few basic categories (e.g. mobile bearing, fixed bearing etc).  All will tout features which would imply durability, natural motion etc.  It is difficult to state which knee reaplacement is best.  Mobile bearing knees are often marketed toward "younger, more active patients" becuase of claims of more natural motion (due to allowing the potential for more tibial rotation) and lower wear resistance.  However, there are many studies which have compared fixed vs. mobile bearing knees and found similar results.  I suggest that you read through the posts and pages here for basic info.  You can also visit the manufacturers sites.  Perhaps most important is finding a good surgeon that you can trust to perform a sound operation.

I'm very interested in knowing what knee replacements will provide the best range of motion and dexterity for doing sports, and will also be durable.
